| IIn 2006 Thunder came to Hurricane Ranch for Bill to campaign in Distance Riding. In this first year of competition Thunder received the following awards: ApHC Bronze Medallion and and Register of Merit; placed 8th in the ApHC National Championship Endurance Ride (and the ONLY stallion to finish), High Point Appaloosa in Ozark Country Endurance Riders, 6th Heavyweight in the AERC Central Region and Hi-Point Novice Endurance Horse for Colorado Ranger Horse Association. A lot of accomplishments for a first year endurance horse! |
| In 2007 Thunder went to the show ring and in the capable hands of Jim Jirkovsky (J BAR S TRAINING). Competing in Senior Judged Heading, Senior Judged Heeling, Heading and Heeling, Steer Daubing, and Rope Race. In 2008 he earned his ApHC SILVER MEDALLION . In his 3 years in the show ring, Thunder was consistently in the top 10 in the classes that he was competing in. |
| In March of 2010 Thunder returned to Hurricane Ranch to continue competing in Endurance Riding . Thunder finished his first Endurance Ride of 2010 on May 15th at the Cougar Prowl Endurance Ride, Muskogee, OK. He finished with all "A"'s on his card and won the Turtle Award.
